Richard Mayfield has been in direct sales for over 30 years and his accomplishments seem endless. His very first year in sales, he made the Leaders Conference with Business Men's Assurance Company which convened in Kansas City and was a member of the Team of Champions. In a few short years, he was a recipient of the National Quality Award. By the end of his first decade of selling, Richard became a member of the Millionaires Club and qualified for membership in the elite Century Club for outstanding sales with Equitable Life and Casualty. In 1983, he managed over 50 agents; thirteen produced sales and the remaining 40 were probably seeking stable employment with benefits. His group produced over 14 million dollars of permanent life insurance of which Richard produced in excess of 10 million dollars by himself. In 1985, he received special recognition from Equitable when he was awarded the Chairman of the Board "Exceptional Agent Award" at a special ceremony in Salt Lake City, Utah. Richard has been a consistant winner of his companies highest awards and conventions for outstanding leadership in sales achievement. Richard is a graduate of LUTC and holds the same professional designation. Additionally, he graduated number one in his class for life insurance marketing in 1973 at the University of Denver in cooperation with the Life Insurance Marketing Institute of Purdue University. He realizes this sounds very impressive, however the course at the University of Denver was basic and only lasted one week. He believes anyone can do anything for one week. He will share more on speed, simplicity, and boldness when you click on the solution. It is worth mentioning that Waite Archer, Director of The Life Insurance Marketing Institute of Purdue University, was responsible for setting his sales career on the right path in one short week. In spite of Richard's list of accomplishments, he feels there are no shortcuts. Therefore, he never felt comfortable prospecting as a result of his own anxiety. He believes that regardless of his outstanding sales achievements and awards, none of it is important. What really is important is what qualifies Richard to address anyone on the number one problem in sales today. Incidentally, this problem has existed for over forty years. Richard suffered frequent episodes of career threatening sales anxiety. Why was this? After all he had attended many workshops, seminars, read dozens of self-help books, listened endlessly to cassette tapes in his car, and was still frequently overwhelmed with sales call anxiety. This became his guarded secret for much of his sales career. He says the reason for this is the stigma that surrounds and penetrates both the salesperson and their profession. More information on this subject will be found in the solution. It's disappointing how very few sales trainers, instructors, consultants, motivators, and gurus know anything about this number one sales problem. So what qualifies Richard to address this problem is the fact he lived with it until he discovered a simple solution. This is why he claims to be an expert in nothing but his own true story. Having finally found a simple solution, he guarantees you can too. Richard traveled far and wide to hear all the so called professional trainers who were teaching and preaching the "how to's" of selling never once mentioning sales call anxiety. Therefore, he would quietly go about his business, pretending to look good at all cost while dying inside from "the dirty little secret of sales." Let's look at a few facts. There is no secret and it seems like every sales trainer and sales call expert has the secret of sales success. Thus common sense becomes uncommon sense because acquiring new accounts is really very simple. The more calls you make the more sales you make. In their first year, eighty per cent of all new sales people quit or resign because they will not make enough calls. Many veterans suffer from the same dilemma, and they are losing at least three new sales a week. The result is a tremendous loss of business which can be terminal to your career and the loss of additional premium dollars to your company. One final fact is no one has ever added up the number of lost potential sales as a result of calls that were never made. The total figure undoubtedly runs into the millions of unmade sales calls, which inturn would translate into billions of dollars in lost commissions and premium income. Why is it that the biggest and most common problem that sales people have always faced is the least discussed? Can anyone explain this? Richard states, "For years I would not accept that my ego was bigger than my bank account. Rather vain of me, wasn't it?" No one likes the feelings of anxiety and rejection and yet it is a major part of sales. It is our inherent nature to have these feelings. Most sales training will not even acknowledge this problem. They usually say "get over it, people are not rejecting you, they are rejecting your idea." There may be some trainers out there who can tell us how to do this, however I personally have never met one. This is the one necessary ingredient missing in all sales training and the very thing that should be addressed first and foremost. As long as you remain in sales you will live with this problem everyday for the rest of your working life or for a one time investment of only $99.95. This problem can be managed comfortably.
